We went to the most colorful, cheapest and craziest super market in all of Osaka

Some guy told us that the Super Tamade super market chain in Osaka may be linked to the Japanese mafia, also known under their common name yakuza, who may be using the business for money laundering. And not only that, apparently the quality is also not the very best, thanks to the very low prices. He also told us to stay away from raw fish and meat, if we’d like to stay healthy for another day or two.

And yet it’s an absolute blast and crazy experience when you step into the colorful neon hell for the first time through the brightly lit entrance doors. You can see so many illustrated pictures, which are supposed to represent stars, carrots and spaceships, yellow price tags with the latest offers, lots of ready-made meals, so different and diverse that people who are weak in decision-making could experience a real crisis of meaning here.

The supermarket chain founded in Japan in 1992 is popular with young and old and is definitely worth a visit if you should stop by in Osaka. There’s ramen. And peanut butter. And drinks. And lots of meat and fish food. And all very cheap. No, not just cheap, but really, really cheap. Who knows why…
