Sure, you love Taylor Swift, and Adele, and Justin Bieber, but on the other side of the earth, there’s a huge music industry with acts you’ve never heard of. But they’re stars, no, for some people out there, they are idols, they are gods, they are living and breathing wonders. K-Pop superstars conquered Asia first, and now they want to rule the rest of the world.
One of the latest South Korean acts is called Heize. Her recent track “And July”, featuring DEAN and DJ Friz, was the loud and fresh summer hit of the East Asian nation. She’s one of those cool urban girls ready to show what she’s made of. And young South Koreans are head over heels in love with her contemporary styles, her easy-going tunes, and her sick rhymes.
“At first, I thought girl crush meant a girl who looks like Crush”, Heize jokes about her girl crush qualities in a recent interview. “But I accidentally knew about the meaning through my friend. I felt good that it meant a girl who other girls like. Most of my fans are girls, so I like that word. I try to tell my stories. I don’t have money, so I don’t have swag. So I don’t have such lyrics. I think hip hop is about sincerity, so I don’t have hard and strong lyrics. It’s a fake to say that I’m the best when I don’t have anything. I cannot understand those people who are doing like that. To say something fake is not hip hop. Moreover, I’m a positive person.”
