Be different, open your mind, think bold! Big fashion brands like Diesel, H&M, or Kenzo want you to be individual as fuck. Don’t just be that normal boring cutie face, be someone special! Okay, if everyone tries to be special, everyone’s normal again, but hey, who cares. For some brands, you’re already a hero if you don’t shave your armpits, but what do I know? Right.
Denim company Diesel partnered up with photography enthusiast Terry Richardson, who already shot people like Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, and Kate Upton, to get a bunch of individual folks in front of his camera to show diversity like there’s no tomorrow. It’s not enough to be just human, you have to have freckles, a tooth gap, or a baby. The important thing is that you’re different.
The posters have slogans like “Stay sweet”, “Make yourself heard”, and “Stand for something”. And there’s one girl who bends over, so you just see her ass and boobs, but not her face, and the photo says something like “Open your mind”. It’s… I don’t know. Is it kind of a metaphor for something? Maybe I just don’t get it. Maybe I’m just too old for that. Or maybe I’m just not special.
