This Skateboard Movie Teaches You To Be Brave And Just Do Your Own Fucking Thing

I won’t be the person who tells you that girls have a much harder life, and everyone’s unfair to them, and they are just seen as walking pussies and breasts by some boys. Or maybe even most boys. You already know that, and it’s not the reason why I put up this post on AMY&PINK. Here’s a cool skate movie, directed by one of my personal goddesses: Crystal Moselle.

Rachelle is a 17-year-old girl living outside of New York City. Intimidated by casual, macho sexism, Rachelle stumbles across a gang of charismatic, fearless skater girls. They show her another world is out there. A world of female friendship, strength and belonging. “Today,” confesses Rachelle “is the first day that I haven’t been feeling that sense of loneliness.”

“I’m in love with the transformation stage in a girl’s life,” Crystal says, “When they are not quite a girl but not quite a woman.” ‘That One Day‘ renders this moment as a tender daydream, ardently feminine skaters in serene slow-mo, which isn’t afraid of the truths facing young women. I’m so much in girl power mode, it’s unbelievable. Let’s head over to the closest skate park and do some shit!
