Diesel just celebrated its 30th anniversary in Japan with an amazing fashion event comprising an archive exhibition and a see-now-buy-now catwalk show. Artistic Director for the whole evening was Nicola Formichetti, who is the son of a Japanese stewardess and an Italian pilot and was discovered by fashion editor Katy England who gave him a column in Dazed & Confused.
“Japan is where I was born and it has always played a prominent role in my creative process, being a constant source of inspiration, a huge part of who I am” explains Formichetti, who is himself half Japanese, half Italian – and champions a hybrid culture through his work. “Celebrating 30 amazing years of Diesel in Japan is a match made in heaven, I can’t wait.”
The catwalk itself was dominated by three people: Alternative model Sara Cummings, American and Japanese princess Kiko Mizuhara, and beloved TV star Rola. Hitting the catwalk, Diesel’s high-energy Autumn/Winter 2016 fashion collection mixes rock, denim, military and sport influences – and more. You can see (and try to buy) all looks right here.
