I know, I know, I know, not everyone is into Rihanna as much as I am. I really don’t know why, because she’s highly magnificent, in absolutely every way imaginable, but hey: I don’t care. Riri is awesome. And she just dropped the full track for “Sledgehammer,” her contribution to the “Star Trek Beyond” soundtrack. I would say, the wait was really worth it. Big times.
The song’s chorus charts the heartbreak Rihanna paints in the first verse, which has lyrics about hitting a wall, getting drowned in swimming pool of tears and bracing for the pain. “I hit a wall, I thought that I would hurt myself, “she sings. “Oh, I was sure your words would leave me unconscious. And on the floor, I’d be lying cold, lifeless. But I hit a wall, I hit ’em all, watch the fall.”
The track was co-written by Sia, you know, the woman who loves this one small dancing girl so much, she puts her in every music video. And what’s the movie about? I don’t know. Spaceships in… space? Maybe? Pew, pew, pew. And some bad guys, and some good guys. And it’s about love, and honor, and saving the universe? Something like that? I don’t care. All I care about is Rihanna.
