Of course, the 90s were the greatest decade humanity has ever experienced. The music – superb. The clothes – wonderful. The food – amazing. And the girls, oh my, the girls. Like Kate Moss. She was no ordinary cutie face, Kate was this rock star with an attitude, a role model for everyone who wanted to be different, the hero of a whole generation.
A quite well-known clothing label called adidas Originals is eager to find the successor of the Superstar and the Stan Smith, and they might have found it, with the re-issued Gazelle sneakers. And guess who wore her Gazelles way back in a 1993 photography? Exactly: Kate Moss. That’s why some folks over at adidas Originals thought: Let’s bring them together again. Kind of.
Artist Doug Abraham took Denzil McNeelance‘s iconic photo of Kate wearing her Gazelles and remixed it for a new campaign video. “Like the Gazelle, Kate Moss is just as relevant in 2016 as she was back in the 1990s, which is why the image works so well,” adidas Originals brand consultant and curator Gary Aspden explained Business of Fashion. “Kate told me earlier this year that when it comes to trainers she has always been an ‘Adidas girl,’ so there was an affinity and an existing synergy there.”
