If you’re not from South Korea you may have absolutely no idea who Jay Park is. But, truth is, Jay is one of the biggest stars in the Asian country. He’s a singer, a dancer, a rapper, a music producer, a songwriter, a model, a choreographer, an entrepreneur, and, of course, an actor. Jay is a member of the Seattle-based b-boy crew Art of Movement. As Jay grew up as a b-boy and dancer, he has become known for these skills, as well as his charismatic performances and stage presence.
27-year-old tattoo artist and activist Grace Neutral, who has purple eyes, pointed elf ears, a forked-tongue, scarification and no belly button, met former leader of South Korean boy band 2PM Jay Park, who successfully held solo concerts in Seoul as well as in Asia and Australia and released his album “WORLDWIDE” in November 2015, in the heart of South Korea.
In Grace Neutral‘s video series, called “Beyond Beauty,” for international fashion magazine i-D, she investigates the ways in which Seoul‘s youth conforms and challenges mainstream beauty ideals. From underground tattoo studios to specialist club nights, Grace meets the young South Koreans embracing alternative ideas of beauty and discovers the impact it has on their lives.
