Popular microblogging service Twitter has officially suspended the notorious cyberbully Azealia Banks indefinitely. The move comes a day after Azealia was dropped from British Rinse FM’s Born & Bred Music Festival following her racist and homophobic Twitter tirade against Zayn Malik. Because, you know, why should racism on social media be tolerated? That’s what I’m saying!
Azealia’s rant began after she posted a tweet suggesting Zayn’s new video was influenced by her work. “Damn Zayn be mood boarding the fuck out of me,” she wrote, followed by: “I eat sand for breakfast and suck dick for dinner”, “Your mother is a dirty refugee” and “Do you understand that you are a sand nigger who emulates white boys’ renditions of black male hood?” Her comments were labelled “disgusting”, homophobic and racist by appalled tweeters, a number of who asked Twitter to suspend her account.
Here’s the life lesson for all of you: It doesn’t matter whether you’re famous or not, whether you’re black or not, or whether you’re female or not: As soon as you start using your social media channels for racist views, you’re gonna have a bad time! Thanks, Twitter, for reacting so fast and competent. Azealia will now have enough spare time to think about her behavior.
