Illustrator Matt Lassen Created A Series Of Famous Cartoons Reimagined As Hipsters

It’s 2016 and we still make fun of hipsters? Yeah, I mean, it’s already kind of a retro thing, isn’t it? Think about the countless hours we spent on trying to understand what exactly hipsters are and why they are and, maybe also, when they are. Maybe that’s why cartoonist, illustrator, and writer for Mad magazine Matt Lassen created a series of famous cartoons reimagined as hipsters.

“I wanted to do an homage to cartoons from my youth with a comment on society,” he told hipsters maybe most hated news site BuzzFeed. “I thought it would be fun to see something I love, cartoons, with something I dislike, hipsters. Hipsters try so hard to be exaggerated and over the top which are the principles of cartooning that I thought it would be a fun series.”

So you see Bartholomew, who turned in his skateboard for a penny-farthing. And Leela and her messy topknot. And SpongeBob SquarePants, who now makes vegan Krabby Patties. Are hipsters dead? I don’t hope so, really. They remind me of a couple of years back when people without any personality tried to buy some at Urban Outfitters. These were the good times.
