South Korean music, or just called K-pop by most people, is everywhere right now. 2NE1, G-Dragon and Girls’ Generation are just the tip of the iceberg with several girl bands, boy groups and stylish rappers trying to become the next big thing from Asia. But South Korea is more than just K-pop – and artist Aston Husumu Hwang is here to prove it.
The photographer, whose real Korean name is Sungmin Hwang but isn’t really called by that anymore, learned his craft in New York City, where he lived for a couple of years, Now he’s based in South Korea’s capital city Seoul, where he loves to immortalize the local nightlife along with the various interesting people who can be found only there.
I can’t wait to see Seoul with my own eyes soon. I’ve heard so many great things about the city, the people, the food and the pop culture in general, that I want to experience this vibrating megacity as soon as possible. But until then I just lose myself in the photos by Aston Husumu Hwang, whose portfolio, full of colorful images, you can find right here.
