SoundCloud has announced a new paid subscription service that promises ad-free listening and an expanded music library. It’s called SoundCloud Go, allows you to save audio to hear offline and provides access to the catalogs of the three major labels and more than 20,000 independent labels, in addition to the music available on SoundCloud’s free tier.
“It’s a big day for the SoundCloud community – for both creators and listeners, newbies and those of you who’ve been with us from the beginning,” Alexander Ljung tells us. “SoundCloud Go is the same SoundCloud you’ve known for years taken to the next level: with an expanded catalog of tracks that are new to the platform, new features and new functionality.”
SoundCloud Go will cost you between $9.99 and $12.99 a month, depending on the device you’re using it, and it’s SoundCloud’s (maybe only) chance to monetarize the Berlin-based music company. You can sign up for a free 30-day trial of SoundCloud Go here or through the latest version of the app. Is SoundCloud Go the next Spotify? We will see.
