Nope, Instagram hasn’t brought back the algorithmic feed (yet), but shares some other great news for everyone uploading videos onto the visually stunning social network: Instagram announced that the length of video posts will expand to 60 seconds. Previously, an Instagram video could last for only 15 seconds. That’s… like… 15 seconds more video for all of you, hurray!
“We want to bring you fun, flexible and creative ways to create and watch video on Instagram,” the official blog post reads. “In the last six months, the time people spent watching video increased by more than 40 percent. And longer videos mean more diverse stories from the accounts you love, whether it’s Selena Gomez hanging out with friends or beauty star Bretman Rock’s latest makeup tutorial. Longer video on Instagram begins rolling out today and will be available for everyone in the coming months.”
In the promotional video for the new function, famous Instagrammers like Frankie Grande, Nastasya Samburskaya and Stephanie Kurlow share their thoughts about their (probably) favorite app. You can just update Instagram to see if you’re one of the lucky ones who are now able to share 60-second long videos – or you have to wait a couple of weeks. Or months. Maybe. Who knows.
