Welcome to London, home of thousands and thousands of CCTV cameras. You want to hang around in the park? Smile, you’re on camera! You want to drink some juice in front of the Buckingham Palace? Smile, you’re on camera! You want to go shopping? Smile…, yeah, you get the idea. Just ask Jessica Evans and photographer Bradford about their trip through Great Britain’s capital.
“Jessica and I met in Brick Lane,” Bradford tells us. “Without a plan and only one outfit, feeling like a story would evolve on its own from hanging out. We went for a coffee, did some walking around and ended up in a vintage clothing shop, who were amazing and a must visit if you are in Brick Lane. We blagged our way into it becoming the home of our shoot. Trying on outfits, fucking around.”
He carries on about his shooting for Sticks and Stones. “It was only afterwards we finished in the shop, we realised the whole shoot was actually being watched by the manager on camera, haha. Only a little awkward. This actually set the tone for the rest of our shoot and according to reports, a Londoner is caught on a close circuit surveillance camera over 300 times a day, thanks to the 51,600 CCTV cameras installed across Britain. So, Smile… big sister is watching!” Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to London!
