Pokémon is a huge part of my late childhood. When my first classmates started making out, I just caught my first Pikachu. I was happy nevertheless – and really, really good! Charizard, Mewto, Zapdos, Articuno, Gyarados and Mew helped me to destroy every kid in the Northern Hemisphere. Forget Ash Ketchum, I was the best Pokémon trainer on this damn planet – for real!
In my little world, there are only 151 Pokémon. The rest, like this flying keychain, doesn’t exist – for a good reason. I tried to dive back into the world of Pokémon, when they released the X and Y editions, but everything had changed and it was all in 3D and meh. But there’s hope out there, now, to travel back into my childhood without sitting in front of this old, grey Game Boy again.
Nintendo just announced, that they’re bringing back the original Pokémon versions Red and Blue to their handheld console Nintendo 3DS. And because you can’t put a Game Link Cable into this newfangled high-tech device, you can share and fight via wifi. Nintendo will sell the games through the Virtual Console on February 27, 2016 – probably without Missingo, the most mysterious Pokémon.
