It’s no secret that the Super Nintendo Entertainment System is my favorite video game console of all times. With epic legacies like Chrono Trigger, The Legend of Zelda – A Link to the Past or even the venerable Super Mario World. Although I sold my SNES some years ago, I’ve been trying to renew my collection again, because, let’s be real, those 16 Bit pixel universes are everything you need.
If you love those games as much as I do and want to play them again while drinking an ice-cold bottle of Asahi Super Dry or a glass of Highball and eating some salty snacks, there’s a special place for that called Famicom Bar Dendo – and it’s right in the middle of Osaka. And what can I say, it’s a nightly wonderland full of long-forgotten video game treasures.
We played a little bit of Super Mario Kart, Legend of The Mystical Ninja and Yoshi’s Island and I fell in love with this perfect console once again, just by remembering why I sat in front of my TV all day long when I was a child and why I was so obsessed with these games. But the Famicom Bar Dendo not only brings you back memories, you can also experience games which were never released outside of Japan – and that’s great, too!
