I love video game music, I adore it. All day long I’m whistling melodies from games like “Super Mario World”, “Secret of Mana” or “Tetris”. On my iPod are remixes of “Chrono Trigger”, “Final Fantasy XIII” and “The Legend of Zelda – Ocarina of Time”. And the title theme of “Grandia”, “Illusion of Time” and “Terranigma” are forever in my heart.
You could say video game music means more to me than almost any western artists combined. Red Bull made this multipart documentary about the golden era of Japanese video game music called “Diggin’ In The Carts”, with legends like Hidenori Maezawa, Masashi Kageyama and Hirokazu Tanaka. A must-watch for everyone who ever had a Super Nintendo or Game Boy.
